Rebirth Brass Band

This weekend Rebirth Brass Band paid a two-night visit to Smith's Olde Bar . It was my first time at Smith's and also my first time to see Rebirth live. One of my favorite things about New Orleans is when the parade-style brass bands play impromptu dance parties in streets, parks, etc. Smith's was the perfect  intimate type venue to get up-close and personal with Rebirth (also, cheap drinks).

Here's rebirth playing one of those dance parties in the French Quarter:

Heard it in the ads

I've been hearing some decent music in commercials lately....Zales, Nikon, and Southern Comfort respectively.

Earl Sweatshirt

I'm exceedingly slow at learning about new/up-and-coming hip-hop and rap artists (I didn't see or hear Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' 'Thrift Shop' until it had nearly 29 million views on Youtube).

That in mind, i'm somewhat of a late bloomer on discovering Earl Sweatshirt too. He comes from Odd Future fame, and if you like their sound, you'll likely enjoy the track below.

Wild Child's Second Album

Austin band, Wild Child, is in the final 48 hours of a Kick Starter  campaign to fund their second album (to be produced by Ben Kweller). Not only is this a good band, but its comprised of real good people.

On a recent road trip from NYC to Austin, they made a pit stop in Atlanta and played an incredible back yard show for me and some pals.

I may have overindulged that evening.... and as a result I don't have any great footage from the show. But check out a video from a similar house party they played in D.C.

I'm really hoping that this Kick Starter gets full funding. I would love another chance to lure them back to a sketchy house party.
